What Does the Future Look Like for Your Club?

Lots of Club Boards have Strategic Planning meetings but nothing changes.

Article by Warren Tapp

How long since your Board asked this question:

“what does the future look like for our club?”

In terms of the changing world in which you operate today is your future guaranteed?

Is your membership in the older age group that is declining with not many younger people attracted to club life?

Is there an increasing difficulty in getting members to nominate for your Board or Committee?

Has the national economy affected members’ ability to spend at your club?

Are your maintenance costs rising with older facilities?

Are you an employer of choice and able to attract good staff?

Is there increased competition from new entertainment or hospitality venues that appeal to the public more than your club?

Is the population of your local area declining if you are in a regional area?

These are the hard questions any Club Board should be asking in their strategic planning meetings and not assume it will all be the same as it has in the past.

The fastest thing happening today is change.

Is your Club ready for those changes as they happen?

Kodak went out of the photo business and went broke, and Block Buster went broke in the video store business all because they did not keep up with changes in their industry sector.

Who Needs Club Governance Training?

In our opinion every club and Association across Australia need Club Governance Training.

Governing a Club, Charity or any Not-for-profit is a big responsibility, and it cannot be done by well-meaning volunteers who do not understand their role.

Club Governance Training will;

  1. Board Members will know their responsibilities.
  2. You’ll have more productive Board Meetings.
  3. Help improve your Club’s growth and sustainability.
  4. Your Club will be more legally compliant.

Club Governance has developed an online training program for all Board and Committee members to ensure they know how to do their job.

It is available in 15 modules of about 15 minutes each and covers all the necessary knowledge they must have, based on our 30+ years of assisting organisations like yours around Australia.
